Updates in Management of Thyroid Cancer, Virtual Conference Tuesday 9th March 2021

Overview
It is with great delight that we wish to announce that we are holding another Royal Marsden meeting on “Updates in Management of Thyroid Cancer”, this time in a virtual format due to the on going pandemic. The event will be hosted on the Royal College of Physicians, London Virtual platform on Tuesday 9th March 2021. The aim of this meeting is to provide an update on what is new, clinically relevant and indeed controversial in the management of patients with thyroid cancer. We have selected what we believe to be some of the most important current issues for discussion and we have asked experts from the UK and distinguished guest speakers from abroad. We hope to stimulate in depth discussions on each topic with ample opportunity provided to ask questions and to express your own views.
The meeting is open to all professionals involved in the challenge of caring for patients with thyroid cancer including or in particular clinicians and senior nurses. We very much hope that you will be able to join us for this meeting.

2020, what a year so far….

A lot has happened this year, with changes to the committee membership roles and not forgetting the ongoing Covid19 pandemic!

Whilst the BAHNON team are committed to providing support and up-to-date advice to its members, this has been very challenging since the beginning of the year, with most of us tied up with our primary clinical roles.

What we do know is that we hope to try and update the website further with more content over the course of the year and try to figure out how we can arrange our next conference safely in 2022.

As always, you can email us for any enquires or sharing of best practice. Or request to join our Facebook page for an even easier way to network and stay in touch.

Ian Salmon, BAHNON Secretary.

World Head and Neck Cancer Day – 27th July 2020

The International Federation of Head and Neck Oncologic Societies invites (IFHNOS) you to observe July 27th as World Head and Neck Cancer Day. More information is available on the IFHNOS website http://ifhnos.net/whncd/Index

BAHNON 2021 conference, Liverpool – postponed…

Due to current Covid19 pandemic it is with a regret that we have postponed our planned conference next year 2021, which we were due to hold in Liverpool. This is extremely disappointing to us all as the conference provides not only a learning opportunity, but also a chance to network and support colleagues from all over the country. More info will follow in the coming months when the healthcare climate begins to return to a new normal.

BAHNO fundraising challenge – August 2020

Our colleagues at BAHNO are doing a sponsored virtual run/cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats on 1st August and they are looking for members to take part! Literally anyone can get involved, they just have to run 5K or cycle 10K in their own home / local park and get sponsors to donate at https://www.gofundme.com/f/bahno-covidsurg-cancer-fundraising

Funds raised go towards research into the long-term impact of COVID-19 on head and neck cancer patients. There will be a map on the website tracking the virtual trip across the country.

People should register by emailing FundRaising@bahno.org.uk with their details.

Good luck!!
